Alexey Yakovlev was born in 1982 in Kaliningrad, Russia where he currently resides and works. He graduated from the Faculty of Russian Philology. His pieces focus on genre and his everyday surroundings. Yakovlev describes his works as diaries where he captures people and things of personal significance. He mostly uses photographs as references for his paintings. Although the most frequent subject matter in his work is people, his artistic focus varies. He also likes to reflect on things, such as household items, flowers, and nature.
