What a rivalry between sculpture and painting at Via di Monserato in Rome! An image shoot by Horst P. Horst in 1965 for Vogue from Cy Twombly’s home in the Italian capital. The photo was painstakingly repeated in oil by Venezuelan artist Juan Araujo inspired by the work of Twombly. Here Araujo is zooming on the details to create a new pictorial fragment: Antique Roman bust, baroque chair and Gerhard Richter painting “Frau Marlow”. Non plus ultra at its best...
